Happy VEGANUARY 2018! Welcome to the first day of the new year, friends, and if you’re a first time reader, welcome to Veganosity! We’re happy you’re here and we’re even happier to show you how awesome vegan food can be.
Hey Lovelies! It’s Linda and Alex here, welcoming you to Veganuary!!! We’re so excited to tackle this new year with you all. Many of you celebrated last night and made your resolutions. If your goal for 2018 is to improve your health, you’re in good company, because 37% of the population wants that too. If you are determined to drop those unwanted pounds, you’re not alone, because 32% of Americans are going to be sweating it out with you.
While these goals are admirable, popular, and they can lead to frustration and confusion before you finish the month. Actually, only 8% of those people will end up achieving that goal! It doesn’t need to be that way, and that’s where we come in. We WANT you to succeed. We WANT you to be healthy. We WANT you to feel good about yourself and be the best you possible, and it all starts with what you put in your body.
Food is an emotional thing. It can cause great joy, it can trigger wonderful memories, and at the same time, it can make you feel guilty and like a failure. Let’s not let that happen, because you’re amazing and beautiful, and this year we’re going to help keep you on track. You’re going to eat well, feel great, and reach those goals. Are you excited?!
Veganuary is dedicated to getting you started on the right foot with the inclusion of more fruits and vegetables. You’re going to color-up your diet, and through that ,improve your health and wellness. This month we’re going to share mouthwatering recipes that are lighter, brighter, and will help you achieve your resolutions, such as a lighter-green curry, braised artichokes, and baked taquitos! And that’s just the beginning.
We’re also going to share more meal plans with you. We know how busy you are, and we know how easy it is to drive up to a fast food restaurant when you’re not prepared to cook something at home. Our meal plans always come with a shopping list and helpful hints for prepping and planning, so you’ll never have an excuse not to have something homemade, healthy, hot, and delicious for dinner.
Cooking whole food plant-based meals taste better, are less expensive than eating out or buying pre-packaged foods, and are so much healthier. Studies suggest that increased fruit and vegetable consumption is a successful way to aid in weight loss. This could be because the inclusion of fruits and vegetables reads as a positive message rather than the negative and restrictive messages other diets convey. It could also be because of the lower energy density (caloric content) of fruits and vegetables compared to meat, oil, processed food products, etc. The truth is, we know that eating more plants is good for us. We know that ditching processed foods and animal products is also good for us. And finally, we know that home cooking is not only good for our bodies, it’s good for our souls. So let’s make something!
