Casual, cool, effortless, style is what Alex and I are attracted to. However, we both have our own interpretation of what’s cool, and what’s effortless. That’s how it should be, after all, we are almost three decades apart in age.
As a mother, I feel incredibly fortunate to have a daughter who actually likes my taste in clothing. It’s a rare occasion for me to have to return something that I bought her. The down side to that is finding my favorite things have gone missing, a common occurrence. But I’m not complaining, I love sharing with my girl, really, I do.
This vegan leather jacket, available at Anthropologie, is one of my most recent finds. It’s the perfect jacket to transition from winter to spring. The light brown color is dark enough for this time of year, and light enough to take you into the warmer months. All you need to change for the seasons is what you wear underneath, and on your feet.
Right now, I’d wear the jacket with an oversized, chunky sweater, boot cut jeans, a pair of Tom’s leopard print booties, and a pink Stella McCartney bag (my dream bag). It’s just enough to get me from building to car, and the jacket is light enough that I can keep it on indoors. I don’t want to lose the cool factor.
Alex would look so cute in the pink, knit sweater, from Acne. Add a pair of ripped jeans, floral Tom’s, and a bright yellow bag. This is how a twenty-something should wear the jacket.
One of the many perks I’ve found since converting to a vegan lifestyle is the reduction in the cost of clothes. Granted, there are still some pricey vegan items, but overall, it’s definitely less expensive. This jacket in leather would cost over $300 easy, this one is only $188.
If you’re not vegan, save yourself some money and compare the cost of a cute vegan jacket, shoe, or bag, to the leather version. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. And, if you do buy the vegan item, you’ll feel good about yourself, knowing that an animal was saved because of you.
