We love a good homemade vegan milkshake, especially one that's fast and easy to make.
This chocolate milkshake recipe with vegan ice cream and cherries is as easy as it gets.
You can use frozen or fresh cherries, just make sure to remove the pits, or you may break the blade on your blender.
INGREDIENTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
DAIRY-FREE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM - We love cashew or oat milk based ice cream because they have a milder flavor and are creamier. Feel free to substitute with vanilla ice cream and vegan chocolate sauce.
PLANT-BASED MILK - Oat milk is the creamiest milk and in our opinion is best for making milk shakes. Substitute with cashew, soy, almond, or pea protein milk.
CHERRIES - Use fresh or frozen, and make sure that the pits are removed. The easiest way to remove cherry pits is to push a straw through the middle of the cherry, or use a cherry pitter.
VEGAN WHIPPED CREAM - This is optional, but highly recommended. Shaved chocolate and a cherry on top is also a nice touch.
HOW TO MAKE A HOMEMADE VEGAN MILKSHAKE
Start with a good blender and add a pint of vegan chocolate ice cream.
Add 3 to 4 cups of dairy-free milk and 1 cup of pitted cherries to the blender.
Blend on medium speed (or on the shake setting if your blender has one) until it's smooth and creamy, and the cherries have broken down into small pieces.
Add more milk if needed.
Pour it into glasses, top it with vegan whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a cherry.
This is best when consumed immediately after making it.
If you want to make them a few minutes before, store them in the refrigerator so they don't melt.

- 1 pint vegan chocolate ice cream
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 3 -4 cups plant-based milk Oat is the best because it's mild in flavor and creamy. Add more if needed.

- Add the 1 pint of ice cream, 3-4 cups of plant milk, and 1 cup of pitted cherries to the blender and blend on medium (or milkshake speed) until thick and creamy. Add more milk if it's too thick.
