A denim shirt and white jeans are two of my favorite clothing items. They’re timeless pieces that can be worn anywhere, throughout the year. Yes, that’s right, white jeans are fine in the winter, as long as they are worn with the right shoes and accessories.
Take a look at how they can be worn now, in the spring, and in the summer. There is a look for mothers and daughters.
I added a warm layer, a more substantial shoe, and a heavy bag for the winter outfit. On a younger woman the trendy faux-fur fringe vest looks great over the denim shirt. Tuck the jeans in the vegan cognac combat boots and carry the cross body bag to finish the look.
The outfit for the older woman is more conservative, but it is still modern and fun. The red synthetic cable-knit sweater worn over the shirt (leave it un-tucked so it shows the bottom) adds color. The preppy faux-suede crown loafer is the perfect shoe to finish off a classic look. The vegan lock bag with the chain trim lends an edgy touch.
Spring calls for color, and the yellow bag is all the younger woman’s outfit needs. The temperatures can be chilly in Chicago so layering is a must. The J. Crew “nobody’s perfect” linen tee is a cute under layer. If it’s too warm just tie the shirt around the waist. Modcloth’s panda shoes were made for animal lovers. Roll the jeans to show them off.
The nautical look is a big trend for spring 2014 so I chose a long sleeve striped tee to wear under the denim shirt. Leave the shirt open like a jacket to layer. The polka dot Dolce Vita flats are vegan and the perfect pattern to pair with stripes. A bright red cruelty-free tote completes the look.
Always have something to cover up with during the summer, the denim shirt will protect your skin from the sun or keep you warm at night.I love this bright, tropical pink cami, especially with the Kate Spade synthetic bow sandals. The leatherette (faux leather) neon clutch adds so much personality to an already fun-loving outfit.
The loose fitting pastel tank top is a winner for older women, especially with the light denim shirt and white jeans. The pink studded sandals and the Stella McCartney canvas bag are all a woman needs to look soft, cool, and stunning this summer.
There you have it! Two classic pieces that make six fabulous outfits for two different generations.
For those who always thought that going vegan meant giving up on fabulous style, it doesn’t. For those who were looking for some cruelty-free style tips, I hope this helped. And, for those who don’t care about being a vegan but love fashion, keep checking back, everyone’s welcome.
