Hi there, thanks for visiting! I’m Linda, the elder of this dynamic duo. My daughter Alex and I started this blog together when we decided to take the leap to veganism together. It was her idea and I’m so happy that I decided to join her.
I’ve run the gamut in regards to my diet. I was raised eating meat and dairy, I became a vegetarian in my twenties, started eating chicken and fish when I got pregnant with Alex, and now I’m a vegan. Flaky? Not at all. I ate meat and dairy as a kid because that’s what my parents ate. When I was in my early twenties a friend introduced me to the atrocities that take place on factory farms so I jumped head first into a vegetarian lifestyle. Then I got pregnant, and certain influences in my life (who shall go unnamed), convinced me that I needed to eat meat or Alex would be born with all kinds of horrible medical problems (FALSE). The pressure and fear was too much, so I began to eat chicken and fish, but no mammals. And now, here I am, a vegan.
Alex reminded me why I became a vegetarian almost thirty years ago (YIKES!) when she announced that she was no longer going to ingest, wear, or carry animal products. But even back then, my disgust with factory farming didn’t stop me from wearing or eating some animal products. For example, I was repulsed by fur, but I wore leather. I wouldn’t eat a chicken, but I’d eat its eggs. I wouldn’t eat a cow, but I’d drink its milk. This time, thanks to my wise and wonderful child, I see the whole picture.
There is another aspect to this lifestyle too. HEALTH. Everyday there are new studies released proving the benefits of a plant based diet. It’s good for us! We all know that meat is linked to colon cancer. Dairy is linked to high cholesterol and heart disease. But, have you ever seen a study linking fruits and veggies to such things?
So friends, this lifestyle of ours makes sense in every way. We love and respect ALL animals, not just our domesticated pets. We never feel the slightest twinge of guilt when we purchase our food, clothing, bags, shoes, or furnishings. We feel good knowing that we’re doing the best we can for our health, animals, and the planet. Better yet, Alex and I have a new and special bond that is priceless to me. It doesn’t get any better than this.
So that’s my story, but who am I?

Be supportive of others and good things will happen to you.
Have good manners.
Hold the door for people when entering or leaving a building.
Don’t open your car door into the car parked next to you!
Say please and thank you. Always.
Don’t talk with food in your mouth.
Don’t chew with your mouth open.
Wait for everyone to sit at the table before you begin to eat.
Don’t stand in line at a coffee shop or restaurant and take 10 minutes trying to figure out what you want when others are waiting behind you.
Don’t judge people. If you haven’t walked in their shoes how could you?
Things that drive me CRAZY!
People who talk with food in their mouth.
People who chew with their mouth open.
People who talk in movie theaters once the trailers start.
I’m freaked out by the thought of bed bugs so I do a thorough inspection of hotel beds when I check in to a hotel.
I’m kind of a control freak. I don’t like that about myself.
I hate doing laundry, I’d love to hire someone to do it for me.
I can’t stand rude people.
If I see you texting while you’re driving I’ll call you out on it.
I dislike people who block the left lane on the highway. Move over!
People who talk trash about other people’s kids.
People who think they’re better than others. You’re not!
People who don’t do their jobs as well as they possibly can. If you’re going to do something, do it right!
Talking about politics or religion.
People who think they are authorities on everything and then argue with those who are experts on the topic of the conversation.
My greatest accomplishments.
Raising two intelligent, thoughtful, well mannered children.
Staying married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart. Actually, that’s been easy, he’s a dream.
Finally getting my college degree at the age of 41, and graduating with honors.
Running several half-marathons
Learning to play tennis in my late 30s and working my way up to the open level and 4.0 USTA.
Finally realizing that I’m a beautiful, intelligent, competent woman who doesn’t need validation from others.
