There are mornings when solid food doesn’t appeal to me, or I’m feeling a little run down and know that carbohydrates will only add to my sluggishness. Those are the times when a fresh, cold, burst of antioxidants smoothie is just what the doctor ordered.
Smoothies are so easy and convenient. Especially if you need to eat on the run! My favorite is filled spinach, blueberries, raspberries, banana and hemp seeds. This smoothie provides me with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, fiber, and protein. One glass of this magic potion perks me up and energizes me for the day.
Okay, I agree that the color is a bit unappealing. But remember, the darker the fruit and veggies, the more nutritious. Once you get past the color, you’ll find that the taste is quite yummy. Close your eyes if you have to. If your kids are picky, put it in an opaque cup with a lid and straw. They won’t care what it looks like once they taste it.
WHY SMOOTHIES ARE GOOD FOR YOU
Smoothies allow you to blend a variety of healthy ingredients together to give you a wide variety of vitamins and nutrients. While most people wouldn’t eat a bowl of spinach, blueberries, raspberries, banana and hemp seeds. in whole form, they have no problem blending them together and sipping them in one cold and refreshing drink.
Here’s what you’ll get from this smoothie
Raspberries – Aside from being super high in antioxidants, these delicious berries are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which are important after a long run.
Banana – A great source of vitamin B6, as is spinach. B6 helps to strengthen your immune system, boost your metabolism, balances hormones and keeps your skin healthy. They also provide calcium, biotin, fiber and more.
Hemp Seeds – Provide you with essential fatty acids and omegas, easily digestible protein, and B vitamins and other important nutrients.

A healthy and delicious smoothie that will help you get your daily allowance of greens in.
- 2 cups of ice
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 cup vanilla almond milk Silk is a good brand
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
- ½ of a banana
- 1 cup baby spinach leaves
Put all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. That’s it, you’re done.
