It’s Kickstarter Monday! After a long weekend of wine, desserts, and getting a little off track, it’s time to kick your healthy eating back into shape. Healthy doesn’t have to mean boring though. One of our favorite things in the world are veggie burgers. They’re packed with protein (black beans) and lots of our favorite veggies. These burgers are super lean, using black beans, carrots, onions, and small amounts of gluten free flour. Slim them down even further by wrapping them up in a leafy blanket of red swiss chard. The bite of the chard and the umami of the burger complement each other perfectly.
Not only is this meal tasty, it’s super good for you. Chard is packed full of phytonutrients which are full of antioxidants and provide anti-inflammatory benefits. It also regulates blood sugar and helps with bone health. Because it has large amounts of calcium and vitamin K, you can tell your dairy-eating friends all about the reasons why you don’t have to consume dairy to keep your bones strong!
