HEARTY VEGAN FOOD FOR FATHER’S DAY
We love celebrating The Breakfast King a.k.a. Alex’s dad and my husband. He’s the best, and although we try to show him how much we love him every day, we go all out on Father’s Day.
We always make him a delicious brunch, and if we’re still hungry, a fabulous dinner.
Father’s Day dinners are always about comfort food that’s filling and full of flavors and textures.
Since our blog is all about vegan comfort food recipes, it was easy for us to choose 10 of our favorite vegan recipes that your dad will love as much as the dads in our lives do.
Let’s get started!
VEGAN SPICY BLACK BEAN QUINOA BURGERS
Our black bean quinoa burger won’t fall apart on the grill! We used aquafaba (bean juice) as the binder and it made all the difference. This baby holds together!
Dad will love this hearty vegan black bean burger, and so will everyone else at the table.
SAVORY PROTEIN PACKED SPINACH BURGERS
This chickpea and spinach burger is another delicious vegan burger option.
It’s perfect for anyone who loves spinach, garlic, and Italian herbs.
BEER BRAISED PULLED “PORK”
Vegan pulled pork is a thing, y’all! Thanks to jackfruit, you can mimic almost any meaty dish. Read more about it, HERE.
We took young green jackfruit packed in water, drained and rinsed it, shredded it, then turned it into a delicious and meaty vegan barbecue sandwich that vegans and non-vegans love.
VEGAN MEATBALL SUBS
Savory vegan meatballs smothered in homemade marinara sauce, topped with grated vegan Parmesan cheese, this is what a sandwich should be.
The men in our lives live for these vegan submarine sandwiches. They’re packed with flavor and are so meaty and delicious.
VEGAN GUMBO
There isn’t a food that we can’t make vegan, and that includes gumbo.
Traditionally made with chicken and sausage, or seafood, ours is just as flavorful and perfect with vegan sausage and no-chicken broth.
What makes this gumbo so delicious is the roux and the holy trinity, which is the combination of sauteing onion, celery, and bell pepper in butter.
Those flavors are the base of our gumbo and you and your dad will love this savory and slightly spicy dish.
VEGAN CRUNCHWRAP SUPREME
If your dad is a fan of Taco Bell, then he’s going to go wild over our vegan crunchwraps.
We fill tostado shells with our delicious and easy vegan taco meat, add spinach, cilantro, tomatoes, and then smother everything with our vegan cheese sauce, and wrap it all up in a flour tortilla and sear it until the tortilla is lightly browned and crispy.
When you bite into this taco wrap you’ll get a nice crunch from the tostada, a chewy bite from the taco filing, and the creamy cheese sauce. It’s AMAZING!
“HONEY” VEGAN BBQ RIBS
These glorious vegan ribs, or ribz as we like to call them, are from our first cookbook, Great Vegan BBQ Without A Grill.
It took us weeks to perfect this vegan bbq ribs recipe, and it was worth all of the effort. Everyone who has tried them, love them!
They’re super easy to make, and even easier to eat. Make extra BBQ sauce for dipping!
VEGAN PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
This is for the meat and cheese loving dads. Only our vegan cheesesteak sandwich is made from plants, not animals.
Nevertheless, it has a fabulous meaty flavor and texture, and the cheddar cheese sauce is every bit as good as dairy cheese.
It’s a real winner, because it’s hearty, filling and delicious, and it has zero cholesterol and saturated fat.
VEGAN JACKFRUIT “CRAB” CAKES
If your dad loved crab cakes before he went vegan, then he’s going to be so delighted when he tries our jackfruit crab cakes.
These were inspired by Linda’s annual summer trips to the Carolina coast. They’re as close as you’re going to get to the real thing.
PULLED BBQ CARROTS
This recipe is a reader favorite! It gets rave reviews from vegans and non-vegans alike. It’s one of our favorite manly vegan recipes!
Linda’s mother-in-law routinely requests it when the family gets together, and she’s not even close to being a vegetarian, much less vegan.
The shredded carrots and onion make a perfectly chewy sandwich when smothered in our homemade BBQ sauce.
Many of our readers have this on their weekly meal rotation, that’s how easy this vegan barbecue recipe is.
Choose one or two of these hearty vegan recipes and make your dad the best Father’s Day dinner he’s ever had.
